2006 Shimano Dura-Ace Crankset FC-7800

New for 2006 is the Dura-Ace Crankset, precisely the kind of crank and chainring set you need if you plan to hook your wind trainer up to the local power station and help battle global warming first hand!

Being Dura-Ace, it goes without saying that this is some shiny kit that probably weighs less than the air you're breathing right now. But make sure you've got your bank manager in your speed-dial, because you might well need a second mortgage before you're cranking your way with these toothed goodies.

According to Shimano the Dura-Ace Crankset is:

"Another technical import from our established MTB technology, the Dura-Ace Hollowtech II crank and bottom bracket combines race-proven hollow forging technology with the integrated crankset and bottom bracket."

"When combined with the RD-7800, FD-7800 and the new CN-7800 10-speed chain, Dura-Ace Hollowtech II enables as close to a 100% transfer of power as exists. Plus, there’s the benefit of easier installation, adjustment and maintenance."

No doubt that's some unbiased and even-handed comments from Shimano there. But honestly, who can resist this kind of bling?

“D-A was the only place I could get a 180mm crank that was compatible with my Ultegra setup. It was easy to change. I stayed with the Ultegra chain rings, only changed the crank and bottom bracket.
Got on ebay for a lot less than MSRP.”
