The way points of this bicycle route:

Katoomba

Start at Station. Head downhill on Katoomba St to roundabout at Waratah St. If not bothered about seeing the sights of Katoomba, head straight for Leura via Highway.

Right on Lurline St.

Three Sisters Lookout

Great views of the cliffs and valley from the lookouts here.

Follow Cliff Drive

Climbs up.

Left on Leura Mall.

Leura

Main street of Leura. Bit of a climb. Tourist centre. Can avoid by a right at Megalong and left on one of the streets off Megalong.

Right at roundabout onto Railway Pde.

Left on Highway. Wait for a gap in traffic and move across to the right turn lane

Right at Sinclair Crescent.

Wentworth Falls

Pretty lake here.

Left onto Railway Pde

Lawson

Use underpass to get to other side of the railway.

Take Honour Ave to bypass Highway. Nice bushland away from the highway but steep uphill section coming up to Hazelbrook. Alternative would be to stay on highway from Lawson.

Becomes Baths Rd. Nice bushland.

Climbs up.

Hazelbrook

Woodford

Woodford Station on left.

Left on Station St. Crosses Highway on an overbridge. Have to back track a bit on Station St to get onto Highway.

Woodford

Left turn. Join Highway. Good shoulder to Linden. Shoulder tends to narrow approaching Faulconbridge. Take the lane more when it does.

Shoulder is narrow along here. Move out a bit if traffic allows.

Faulconbridge

Right at lights onto Sir Henry Parkes Pde

Oak trees planted here in honour of past Prime Ministers.

Springwood

Plenty of bakeries for a lunch stop. Keep on Maquarie Rd after Springwood, on right of highway

Keep left on Tusculum Rd. Then keep on Tusculum Rd (dont go under the railway just ahead)

Valley Heights

Tusculum becomes Green Pde, still on right of railway.

Sun Valley

Green becomes Waratah Rd

Road bends to the left. Dont miss a sharp left to an underpass of the highway.

Right onto Railway Pde

Warrimoo

Blaxland

Old Bathurst Rd on left.

Left at Mitchells Pass Rd

Lennox Bridge. Built in 1830's. Beautiful old stone structure. Good lunch spot. Road is one way from here. Sometimes get speeding cars along here and it is steep downhill.

Mitchells Pass Rd ends. Joins Old Great Western Highway.

Emu Plains

Great Western Highway. Has a shoulder and not that much traffic.

Cross over here to footpath on other side to access the footpath across the bridge ahead.

Bridge over Nepean River. Take the lane if not using the footpath on other side.

Stay on footpath up to lights.

At lights join Castlereagh Rd and get into the correct lane to make a right turn ahead. Can be busy so take care.

Right on to Jane St

Penrith

End at Station. With a bit of luck you will be able to catch the 2.30 pm express back to Central.
