Bear left. There is some barely visible board walk through the sand on the left - follow this.

Off-Road section 28.

Through farm yard in front of farmhouse - Bridleway.

Tricky downhill ahead with crumbling log/gravel steps along it.

Turn right along pathway. It gets narrow and climbs a bank - take care - one slip and you're in the drink!! Further on, the trail gets alternately rooty and rocky and can be tricky. At one point it opens into a clearing - just head along the length of the clearing watching out for deep muddy patches - it narrows to a path further on.

Cross the river via the bridge if you're a wuss and want to keep your feet dry!

Visit the beach - have a break - tough climb next.

Ford the river.

Start of a tough climb out of Pwlldu Bay. Watch out for idiots like me coming down the hill fast!!

End of Off-Road Section 28. Have a rest then follow Pwlldu Lane!

You're looking for a bear right off the lane onto a gravel track - THIS is NOT it!

Turn right off main track, following Bridleway.

Turn right onto Pennard Road.

Straight on, rejoining official route merging in from left off Vennaway Lane.

Bear right off the official route onto Old Kittle Road a little past the pub on the left. Steep downhill lane. Keep your wits out for trafffic, but keep your momentum for the ford at the bottom (if there's any water in it) and the steep climb back out on the other side.

Ford (with a footbridge to the left should you need it - it's hardly ever got any water in it).

Turn right onto Northway rejoining official route.

Turn right onto Murton Green Road leaving the official route.

Turn left onto Mansfield Road.

Bear right at small green.

Turn right into Bridleway. Off-Road Section 30. Very rocky fast short downhill. Keep your momentum for the boggy patches at the bottom.

Boggy patch can stop a speeding bike dead - take care.

Turn left staying on the gravel bridleway.

Turn left down narrow track in front of gateway, following Bridleway. Very rocky steep downhill singletrack ahead - take care. Suffers from washouts.

Don't go all the way to the flat bit - very boggy. Take a right through a gap in the fence and by-pass the boggy bit for 20m or so.

Back to steep and rocky again.

Don't go all the way to the bottom - very boggy. Cut through a gap in fence on the right in sight of the wooden shelter.

Roughly go parallel to the main track and head through the open area in the trees up the hill

Follow a way mark depicting a red leaf. Bears right higher up the hill onto single track.

Approximate. Head for the downhill section of singletrack - gets very tricky and steep with some nasty roots and rocks to catch you out. Watch out for the narrow opening between two trees at the start of the downhill.

Unless you're good you'll need to dismount for this nasty treacherous final zig-zag to the car park at the bottom of the singletrack.

Turn left into the car park. End of Off-Road Section 30.

Bear right steering roughly parallel to the shallow valley ahead-left.

Bear right.

Bear left.

Bear left and start heading towards gate for Bridleway off the common.

Turn right onto Northway rejoining official route. End of Off-Road Section 32.

Turn left off Northway onto Bridleway. Off-Road Section 33.

Turn left up towards golf course.

Sorry about this climb - it sets the scene for a worthwhile downhill on the next Off-Road Section.

There's building work going on here so the exact route may change, but not by much.

As the bridleway becomes less distinct keep your eyes peeled for blue waymarks.

Watch out for this right turn - easily missed.

Bear left at waymark post.

As you head downhill watch out for golfers - they're worth almost as many points as ramblers! ;-)

As you approach the junction the track speeds up, but the risk of meeting someone on foot increases - take care.

Hairpin right, uphill (sorry!) following bridleway waymarks.

From here it gets a bit boggy and susceptable to hoof churn - steer to the edges. I promise the Clyne downhill makes it worthwhile!

End of Off-Road Section 33. Note well: Clyne Farm, on the left sells the famous Joes Ice Cream. Not as good as the version they sell in Joes Ice Cream Parlour, but damned good anyway. NNB: Joes Ice Cream is undoubtedly the best in the world!!!

From here it's down hill through Clyne woods to the river. Put your seat RIGHT down!

Straight on at the corner onto the bridleway. Off-Road Section 34. This bit is fast but you have little advance visibility and the track IS used by others - so take care.

By now you're in the narrow sunken part of the bridleway. Off to the left is a narrow singletrack slip taking you up off the bridleway. Watch out for the jump at the top - here begins some of the Clyne jumps.

Take care as you pass the small disued quarry on your right, the singletrack is right on top of it and the drop is severe.

From here on, these plots all get a bit inaccurate.

Take a right onto a slightly less distinct singletrack, putting the fenceline of the field behind you.

Go round a left hand berm into a VERY steep short descent into a disused quarry.

Follow the sunken lane as it twists out of the quarry with banked corners and a jump or two.

Follow the track down hill taking in a series of berms and jumps.

The track crosses the fire road at a wooden jump - take care this jump should be looked at first it drops off hard behind it.

Pick up a little gully leading off the fire road next to the wide bit. Take care - it gets steep down here.

Follow the track down to a berm left which is perched right on top of a cliff! Don't overshoot!!

Follow a route steep down hill eventually down some log steps to an old indistinct lane.

Follow the lane as it decscends gently along the length of the pond.

Pick a route down to the tarmac bike path either crossing the stream or over the tiny boardwalk bridge. Did you enjoy that lot or did it scare you shitless!?

Take care crossing the official short route along the cycle-track. Go straight across the track and pick up a pathway leading down to a bridge crossing Clyne River.

Follow the gravel track along the river with the river on the left.

Keep on the main gravel track as the river deviates away from the track briefly

Veer left near the footbridge over the disused canal.

Climb a path up a steep bank to get onto a higher level track.

Turn right and follow the wide sometimes boggy track.

Stay on the track alongside some fields.

Bear right downhill at the fork.

At the bottom the track peters into singletrack up a short slope onto the top of the disused tip. Follow the singletrack.

As the singletrack opens out into a wide sometimes boggy area. Bear eft

Descend the slope down to the entrance road into the tip.

Bear right onto the road. Take extreme care you will be going contradirection to the traffic entering the tip. Alternatively head into the tip and follow the traffic passing through it . End of Off-Road Section 34.

Turn right onto Derwyn Fawr Road.

Turn left into the no through road (Ashleigh Road) Now get some speed up as you descend Ashliegh Road - there is a sequence of small jumps at the bottom that are woth doing.

At the end of the road stay straight ahead. Keep your speed up and stay to the left of the railings. Start of Off-Road Section 35.

Stay straight ahead at the end of Off-road Section 35

At the T-junction with the main road turn left onto Mumbles Road.

At the big gravel car park before St.Helens Rugby/Cricket ground, turn left into the car park and head for the track around the perimeter behind the houses backing onto the carppark. Start of Off-Road Section 36.

Follow the track around the playing fields turning right at the rugby filed

Turn left back onto Mumbles Road. End of Off-Road section 36.

Tun left into Rugby ground as indicated by marshals.

End of the Alternative Gower Bike Road.

Your route has been saved.
