| 20 mi loop that has scenic views of the Bay Area, Golden Gate Bridge, Mt Tam and Mt. Diablo. The route starts at BART station that has free parking on weekends The route winds up through the beautiful UCB campus, Strawberry Canyon behind UCB Stadium, Lawrence Hall of Science (Optional stop) then on to Grizzly peak blvd. Turn right to Tilden Park entrance. S. Pk Dr. This is the highest pt in climb 1652’ (Option .3mi further on Grizzly Pk is the Miniature Steam Train.) --Note S. Pk Dr closed 11/1 to 3/31 to protect Newts. Alt. turn left on Grizzly PK to Shasta RD. Take Shasta Road into Tilden to E Pk Dr. Route traverses Pk Dr to Inspiration Pt (old Nike base entrance). Following the Skyline Ridge Trail for ~2 miles to Wildcat Peak elev. 1211’. There are fantastic views of Bay Area and Mt Diablo. Return back through Tilden and take a fun ride back down Euclid Ave to UCB. Return to BART. Moderate/steep hill climbing from UCB to Tilden Pk ~1400’. After Option- great restaurants in Berkeley. |
