| June 14. Mapping out Golden Ears Bridge and bike paths. | alexz | Jun 15th | Canada > British Columbia > Maple Ridge | 19.4km | Commute, Recreational, Onroad, MTB, Smooth, Basic, Offroad, Low traffic, High traffic, Safe, Unsafe, Urban, Rural, Scenic |
| This is the June 14 public access to the Golden Ears bridge. The bridge deck south of Katzie was pedestrian only. A bike valet was available. this ride was to discover the roads and bike trails around the Golden Ears bridge. I dont think you want to cycle Golden ears way north of Hammond, as the side guard rails only come up to your handlebars. You could fly off the road to a large fall if you were to get knocked by a car. Northbound cyclists should exit at 113 street and cycle safer surface routes. More Pitt Meadows cycling routes can be found at http://www.pittmeadows.bc.ca/assets/Parks/pdfs/bike_route.pdf Overall, Pitt Meadows is a bike friendly town due to the flat landscape and designated bike lanes. | |||||

| Mostly gravel trails. Mostly doubletrack and old logging roads. Plenty of side trails to explore as well, such as lost lake, baden powel. You have to be bear aware. Cell phones can be out of range, so use frs/gmrs walkie talkies and spare batteries to keep in contact with riding buddies. You can take this route, or be a wuss and take the paved seymour valley trailway to the hatchery instead. | |||||

| Squamish - Jacks - MTB | alexz | May 2nd | Canada > British Columbia > Squamish | 9.2km | Recreational, MTB, Basic, Low traffic, Rough, Safe, Rural, Scenic |
| Exploring the easy trails in Squamish. This is an easy MTB trail. You need to handle dirt , singletrack and roots and unevenness of the dirt which can go over dirt root clusters. There are many cross country trails around Squamish, and I recommend picking up a folding bike map at Corsa or Tantalus bike shops. | |||||

| unofficial Approximate Route of Central Valley Greenway. | alexz | Nov 17th | Canada > British Columbia > Burnaby | 27.8km | Commute, Recreational, MTB, Basic, Offroad, Safe, Scenic |
| Some parts of the greenway have yet to be built. New West has yet to build a route between Cumberland and Spruce and connect to Braid. Some parts such as East Van are still taking suggestions from the public. This is not an official route. http://www.translink.bc.ca/Plans_Projects/Urban_Showcase/Central_Valley/about_greenway.asp I noticed that the Vancouver maps differed. The main map seemed to show 1st avenue, but a local map showed industrial avenue... so the official map isn't carved in stone yet. Updated Sept 27. | |||||

| Burnaby Foreshore Park Eco Preserve | alexz | Aug 11th | Canada > British Columbia > Burnaby | 5.8km | Recreational, MTB, Basic, Offroad, Not Bike, Safe, Scenic |
| Technically, bikes are not permitted here. While walking this route, did see a cyclist. Most of the trails are hard packed gravel which would be suitable for a 1.5" tire to roll on without affecting the environment. Bridges cross streams. Dogs are also not allowed at this park. I suspect the bike ban is to keep noise down. (walkers are quieter than cyclists on gravel and don't spook birds) | |||||

| This map shows the 'wrong' way to do this. You really want to just take a bus up, then coast downhill 1000 feet down some trails. This map shows 'the other way'.. all uphill, most of the time. | |||||
